Water Marks on the walls

Just before Christmas, I noticed these rings on the wall over my stairs:

    I'm new, so I don't get to post pics or links, but let's give it a go anyhow: www . pinterest . com / pin / 149252175127183790 / ).

This is an exterior wall, and I'm guessing there's water getting in somehow, but I'd expect to see water running from the top down, not these rings. Can't find any leaks in the attic either. To be honest, I'n not sure exactly what I'm looking at here or how to proceed. Any thoughts?

Looks to be cold bridging caused by the dot & Dab adhesive used to stick up the plaster board.

The hot Humid air inside your house is condensing on these cold spots and eventually dripping down. Solutions: better ventilation in that room or insulate the wall.
