I am travelling to Morocco for 3 days I can't pre order Dirhams from any of the banks. Anyone know where I can get it in Dublin and how much I should bring for 3 days?

Are you travelling from Dublin Airport? If so then you can pre-order your currency right here.

    Hope that helps,

Thanks I got a friend who is an Ulster Bank customer to get them for me. On another note I am going with a group of friends for 3 days. What are the must see's I could squeeze in I would like to do 2 days Marrakech and maybe a day trip I arrive late on Sunday but leave late on Wed. I am thinking souks, Bahia Palace, Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Medersa, what museum is better Marrakesh museum or Museum of Moroccan arts and crafts. Also what day trip would you reccommend thinking of doing this Tuesday.

Moroccan dirhams cannot be exported from Morocco so you should not be able to officially get them in Dublin, although you obviously now have. That said I have also seen them available at currency exchanges at London Stansted & Gatwick airports but the exchange rates were horrendous. You also should be able to exchange euros for dirhams on arrival at Marrakech airport and your Irish bank/ATM card should work in the ATMs in Morocco. The current rate of exchange you can get from Banks/BdChanges in Morocco is about 10.75 dirham to €1.

Be aware also that when you receive the dirham notes from the shops, bars etc that none of them are actually torn or held together with sellotape. You'll have fierce difficulty trying to exchange them at other outlets, and the shops at the airport won't take them at all if they are defaced or damaged in any way. Strange but true!!

Yes as far as I know it is a closed currency. I was there last year and used my irish bank card to withdraw money at the airport. As regards sights, both the Bahia Palace and the Majorelle Gardens are worth a look but be warned the gardens can be overrun with tourists which ruined the experience for me (a bit hypocritical of me I know but sure there you go).

Going 15th Feb so hopefully wont be full of tourists or too hot like the Summer months. Looking forward to the food, sights and shopping getting my holiday jabs too just to be on the safe side.
