Tire width question

Widest tire that will fit on a 13 x 4.5" wide rim. Car has a 145 on it. Google tells me a 175 will fit. Clearance isn't an issue as a 195/50/15 fit on same et wheel. Thanks Niall.

You can go (almost) as wide as you want - you'll just get an ugly balloon on a rim.

Had 185s on 5ish wide rims, and didn't look bad, but personally wouldn't go wider than 185 on 4.5 rim.
