Can anybody point me in the right direction on finding out about a certain Aer Lingus aircraft. An aircraft log or a website with info on all of the Aer Lingus fleet? Flying with them at the end of February and would like to know about the plane I am flying on.

Be grand - don't worry - anyway its hardly going to say "don't like the look of this one - wouldn't be flying on it like "

you don't hear them saying things over the intercom like
In the highly unlikely event of loss of power on all four engines then in all probability we will go into the ground like a dart

As per the Aer Lingus website they don't have anything with four engines.

Can post the full link but here is their fleet :

I'm not worried about anything happening. I've been on many flights too and from many countries. I have just found that I have a keen interest in the aircraft I will be flying on. Being an Aer Lingus flight I'm quite happy that I will get to my destination safely (fingers crossed) and I know they have but no scratch on their record other than 'Tuskar Rock'. I'd just like to know about the aircraft.

Add another 5 crashes to your list, of all 6, 3 were fatal, but that was donkeys ago, the EI of today are one of the safest in the world, the aircraft you will be going on wont be selected for its duty until a few days before your flight, if you check back then maybe someone in EI on here can give you a registration

Aer Lingus pilots are some of the best trained pilots in the world. Nothing to worry about

Well if there are any EL pilots that accommodate this thread, The code of the plane is El402. Looking for the history of the plane, How many miles flown, how many repairs on different parts, age of aircraft etc... I'm sure there is somewhere on the internet that holds this info I just cannot find it!

Doubt you'll be able to find out that amount of detailed info.
Miles flown isn't a recorded quantity. Hours and cycles are.

Even the most informed insider on here won't know the actual registration of the aircraft in question until a short few days before your departure. Even then it may change last minute due to operational reasons.

EI-402 is the flight number, DUB-FCO.
Most probably it will be an A320.

Check the reg when you board and then have a look at this site:
    http://www.airframes.org/

You will not get details about miles flown, cycles, repairs. This would be commercially sensitive info. But you will get age and delivery date.

    EG, I input EI-DEF and I get:
Its an A320-214, MSN 2256, Built in 2004, Delivered in Feb 2004, named St.Declan/Deaglan

Or as you board , look in the door jam area for the ' Con Plate ' that has the construction date on it .

The seat guru website estimates the model of aircraft but can't predict the reg.

"This morning" was in fact Jan 10 last year.

And look, EI BYO is still active. It was cut up into bits some time last year!

    Lol

On further inspection of the page I conclude that you are right! lol Ohh and EI BYO is not the plane I'm looking for its EI DER. Found a flight history for up to March 7th of 2014 but after that there's nothing? I'm quite confused ATM.

Flight history up to November 1st now. After that there is nothing what so ever?

Have a look on FR24 to see what EI DER is up to today. It hasn't been in Rome for a while. The chances of it being the same aircraft are about 1 in 47.

A quick look at the 402 shows there have been 6 aircraft on that route in 7 days.

Its extremely unlikely that that specific frame will be operating the flight on your day

OP - As posted no one will know what particular aircraft will operate what flight until probably the evening before the the flight operates and even then that information is not going to be made public.

Aircraft are shifted around the roster every single day so there is no way that you are going to know what aircraft is doing what flights in advance.

You're not going to know until you are waiting to board the aircraft.

However, if you are looking for some basic information on the entire Aer Lingus fleet you can look here:

    http://www.planespotters.net/Airline/Aer-Lingus

Click on the numbers in the "Active" column for individual information.

Thank you everyone for the info that you provided me. I understand I will not know the registration of the plane until the day. Thanks all again.
