I don't have a passport anymore its expired years ago but I am going to be attending a concert next April with in London.

Some told me that I could fly to London without one is this true ?

If so it would be great saving me 80 euro getting a new passport extra spending money for my trip.

    Many thanks in advance.

No, you need it for Ryanair. Aer Lingus don't require it as long as you have another form of ID.

Passport will last ten years so the best 80 quid you will spend

    Taken from the DFA website:

"We understand that all airlines except Ryanair accept photographic ID (such as a valid driver’s license) as evidence of identity for travel to Britain.

If travelling on a passport, it must be valid."

They don't, it's clearly written in their T&C.

OP if you need to get a passport, apply sooner rather than later, they take a few weeks and you need the number to check in for your Ryanair flight.

BA, Fly Be and Aerlingus do not require a passport

So just fly with one of them.

    OP,

if you have proof of travel you can get passport within 10 days,

i have previously done this, some F*** lifesaver :)

Ryanair only take Passports off Irish citizens. But most EU countries like Germany and Italy have proper ID cards. Meaning you dont need a passport. I would love if Ireland got an national ID card. It would make things like opening a bank account etc super easy, as your address is on it

And it costs €150. The OP has already posted that they're travelling in April and that they're not keen on spending €80 on a regular passport...though it's more than €80 these days https://www.dfa.ie/passports-citizenship/top-passport-questions/passport-fees/ (€89 through An Post or €95 through passport office)

    It's this April 2015

You've still got more than enough time but I would apply sooner rather than later

For the sake of €89 for a 10 yr passport well worth it . Not sure if you willing to spend all the money on flights, accom and concert tickets you wont pay small outlay to have yourself sorted for 10years

If you fly from Derry or Belfast you can fly on photographic ID
