    with the 2015 evening courses starting in a few weeks, i was wondering if anyone knew of any on the northside of dublin?
    i did a woodturning course in hartstown a couple of years ago, would like to get to grips with some more general woodworking skills, now that i have a smallish shed available to me.

    cheers!

    Google woodworking courses Dublin theirs a good few on the go if none of them suite ya. YouTube, books, and forums are the best place to learn and get help. You should look into making a good bench you don't need anything fancy 4x4 for legs 4x2 for rails and 9x3 or 9x4 for top all planed stock. you can pick up woodworking vices either new or second hand faithfill ones around €90 here http://www.thecarpentrystore.com/ With the bench don't bother putting in a tool well or drilling loads of holes for dogs drill them as you need them, a planer thicknesses will make life easier for you and you can buy stock cheaper . Once you have the bench you can start simple joint making and then move onto small projects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=p7OT4Xhgm2U https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qtkBZHLJyD0 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYwsgA-ZhDGHUCb4YFG00xQ

    one of the problems i've found with using google is that you often find old links to courses which ran last year or the year before, so it can be difficult sorting out up to date info from old info.
    cheers for the links!

    There are some sub-reddits that are great for walking you through projects and getting ideas;

    Ringsend college does evening courses.....pretty simple but you can do an improvers course where you design/build you own piece. Beginners course is a makeup mirror thing with 2 small drawers. Registration was monday/tuesday but they are holding more registrations next week too.

    Huge list there but I think some are outdated and no longer running.

    Galway community college looks a very good one, bit too far for me tho 😞

    nice one
    that must be new... or well hidden, as I only looked a couple of weeks ago, and on previous occasions..... the only thing I ever found local was wood turning.

    I've been looking to get into course for a while now, but the only thing I have ever found was in Ringsend or Dun Laoghaire and to be honest, the further away, the less likely I will commit, especially on a crappy evening.

    not sure if I can make the Monday nights though :(

    i was mailed the prospectus only today, i don't ever remember seeing it before.
    worth noting that if they don't get enough interest, they may not proceed with it.

    If you do go ahead with it let me know how it goes. ATM, I'm committed on Mondays, but may try and re-organise
