Bringing a market stall in the UK

I have a small craft based business. Currently I sell online as well as wholesale through one shop in Dublin. I do the odd market (like the craft one in the RDS) but it's not a big thing for me. However I've signed up for a market at a big event in the UK this year. It's very specialist and I thought it would be good exposure over there.

My questions are around the money side of things. My products sell in the 20-25 euro range. For a show in the UK, I'm going to need a float of small notes/coins. I'm going to round my prices so that I don't have to worry about anything under £1. How do I get the cash for a float? Can I go to my bank here or should I just walk into one in the UK? And then after the show, what do I do with the sterling that I'll have (millions, haha!!)

Finally, I don't currently have a means for taking cards. If I want to accept card payments (which will hopefully make the first two issues less significant) what's my best option when I only do 2-3 shows a year? I've taken a glance at sumup before, is that easy enough?

Just change money in the bank like you normally would. If its a regular trip over might be worth setting up a sterling account to reduce the conversion costs.

For card payments sumup sounds like it would be a good option as there's no monthly fee just an upfront cost and then transaction fee i use it for small transactions works great.

Are you going to be at showcase? What sort of products do you make?

Thanks, I shouldn't have trouble buying change in a bank I am not a client of then? It probably won't be a regular thing, so probably not worth setting up an account. Yet anyway!

It's a knitting, yarn and fibre show.

Go to your own bank here see if they can help for change you might be able to order it. If not then you should be able to get a bag of £1 coins off someone! That or just round things off to a fiver so you only need notes.
