Me and my wife were very lucky few months ago. Were taking a tour around St Maarten and the tour guide kept talking about the KLM flight.
Eventually to prove that the 747 does land there he drove us and the rest of the tour gang to the bar at the end of the runway and low and behold 5mins later the KLM arrived, absolutely unbelievable to watch.

Some people are crazy in how close they want to get to the plane though!

It really is a great beach to spend the day.

Cheapest route to St Maarten is always through the US, some good deals can be found on Kayak and Skyscanner, book in advance and you can get €600-€700 return. May involve spending a night in the US. Air France via Paris can be anywhere between €1100-€1300 and the KLM return leg involves a stop in Curacao which would be annoying.

Plenty of other things to do on the island too to keep the other half happy and its 28 degrees all year round;)

I've wanted to goto the Caribbean for ages. But I think if I went there i'd be going via America, I don't like being over the ocean for 8 hours.

    That's fantastic.

Just watched AFR499, a gorgeous A340 appear in shot, turn and take off. No sooner had it left but it appeared on FR24.

    Sweet work de biz!

Should be a westjet 737-700 landing in about 10 minutes

Just managed to capture it, it was a 737 (from Montreal) so came in relatively high, guess it doesn't need as much runway as the KLM 747s .....

The OCD in me doesn't like the editing by the video maker.
    PH-BFM was pushing back,
    PH-BFE was taing off,
and it was PH-BFY that was filmed landing.......

This recent one is ridiculously low, hes either showing off or made a balls of it. Or both.

I think there's an element of optical illusion here, photographer lower down than the crowd in front?

There is a bit of that yes(not much) but hes still way low I think when you look at others. The barman at the beach was telling me some do like to show off on landing especially the privates, and some roll down the window when turning for takeoff and give a wave. Adds to the buzz of the place.

I'd recommend going over to Anguilla for a day or two, 20 minute boat ride. The beach at Cap Jaluca, Cove Bay and Rendevous bay are stunning. In fact all the beaches on Anguilla are stunning. Completely different island, a lot less populated and commercialised.

It certainly is, just a pity the person taking the video did not turn their phone sideways

I was here in 2009 on honeymoon as part of a cruise. Plenty cruise ships stop here on eastern carribbean trips.

Its some buzz. Planes normally take off towards the mountain. Made mistake of standing in the jet blast of an AA 737 and got sand blasted. The planes create a mini tsunami on the beach by pushing out the water and then it comes back in. Some peoples belongings get a good wash to say the least

My wife took these pics while i stood under the flight path. Some rush to get.
