For that money and reliability being important you'd get a nice type r for 8k or less. The evo/impreza route is fine too but maintenance costs are higher and fuel consumption is considerably higher in comparison. All depends what you want and your style of driving really. Type rs need to driven hard to get the best out of them whilst the evo/impreza have more bottom end grunt (torque). Have you considered a diesel hot hatch? Just throwing it out there.

Maintenance isnt too bad on an impreza sti. Had one for 8 years fuel consumption is another thing though. Sold it last year and every day I miss it.0 -
