advice on the Merkur 39C

I'm looking for someone to tell me "don't" :)

I've been using a Merkur 34C (i think) for about a year now and looking for a new razor.

I was thinking about the Merkur 39C slant.

Has anyone any opinions on it or a reason I'd be mad to get one?

Or is their an alternative I should try?

    thanks

I think the main difference is it'll be more aggressive. But if you're comfortable with the closed comb, it shouldn't be that much more difficult to adapt your technique to the open comb!
I have the Muhle R89 and a Merkur 15c and I honestly think the open comb Merkur gives a better shave.

No harm in adding a slant or open comb if your current collection is limited to safety bar razors. As mentioned slants tend to be on average more aggressive. You may find you need less strokes. I find them useful if I've several days growth. They say a slant is the DE closest to a straight shave wise. Slants seem to be in fashion at the moment on other shaving fora and I see a couple of new models out over the past few months. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't realise it was open comb.

Can I send the medical bills into boards when I cut my throat?

I've a one touch on the way that was mentioned last week on another thread. I may hold off until I see how it goes.

Merkur 39c is not open comb,it's a slant. It is also a long handled Merkur so the extra length adds weight and makes it slightly more aggressive than the shorter version (37c).

If you're looking at Merkur open combs, look at the 38c.

I'm also waiting on a delivery of the micro touch from bang good. Are on the slow boat but expect soon.
Will stick up my thoughts when I get it.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on that. Nick did a review of it a while back, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pwI6RvS5oo
It seems a bit mild for me though. I've just become too addicted to aggressive razors.:)
