The Boffins at tv3 have written an algorithm that can compute

Which member of your family you are closest to?
Which names you would pick for your baby girl?

And turned it in to a TV game show hosted by radio funny man and ex Irish Take Me Out host Ray Foley. Hopefully none of the contestants will proclaim, "I already have an a-hole in my knickers Ray I don't need another one" as one did in his last show.

Anyhow just noticed the first episode on there on there now will see if I can pick up the repeat somewhere, hopefully it will be more Crossfire than that crap Brian Dowling hosted recently, can't even remember the name of it.

    Just starting on TV3 now.

Is it worth an hour of my life?

No way, record maybe play back, there are about 5 questions the whole programme, as the are questions about the contestants you won't know any answers, won't be so bad if you can fast forward...

Gave it two questions (about 15 minutes including an ad break) before changing the channel before dying of boredom. Awful dire rubbish.

Why would anyone be interested in watching a gameshow with questions based solely on the interests of a bunch of strangers? (Not very likable strangers either if tonight's lot are anything to go by.)

No skill or interaction from the viewer at all. No shouting at the telly sayin 'Its B, answer B'. You can't watch this with someone else and say someone is right or wrong and have a bit of crack over the answer. Because there is no right or wrong answer for anyone other than the contestant, and more importantly, nobody gives a fiddlers what their answer is.

Why can't Irish television stations do gameshows?

They can't even get the adopted versions of UK ones right. :(

Totally agree. The whole reason many people watch shows like this is so we can play along at home. This has more of a Mr & Mrs feel to it, which people enjoy as it at least has celebrities couples on.

Of the new shows tv3 have come up with Crossfire was the only one I enjoyed. The Lie only has a handful of questions, I watched 5 episodes in about 20 minutes earlier today. Last year they had a category of questions, Irish Geography, one of the answers that turned out to be true was, Niall Horan went to school in Mullingar! How the heck is that a geography question?

Sitting On A Fortune was just embarrassing muck.

I know they are trying to come up with new formats but seriously do they not have some sort of a sample audience they can pitch these ideas to first. I will volunteer to do it for nothing.....

Wanted to like it, but couldn't warm to it at all. Gave it 45 minutes but couldn't stay with it any more.

    Positives:
    - I'm a Ray Foley fan, and I like how he presents the show.
    - The general premise is OK. I think it could be explained a little more clearly that "The Algorithm" is analysing stuff based on the 35,0000 people PLUS the contestant's specific data, as opposed to just the contestant's data.
    - I like the general aesthetic of the show.

    Negatives:
    - So incredibly slow paced. It took 11 minutes for the first question to be answered. At the point where I left, there'd only been about 5. 5 questions in 45 minutes just isn't good enough.
    - Too many components. Having lives, the panic button, additional questions - it just feels jumbled.
    - Feels very padded. As the new team come on, there's an intro video where they introduce themselves. Then once that's over, Ray basically asks them the questions they answered in the video. Scrap one or the other.
    - Contestants were very unlikable tonight IMO. But this really is a problem I have with all Irish gameshows.

Unfortunately, not enough here for me. If it gets a second series, I'd happily give it another go to see if they've made this show (which I do think has potential) into something watchable, but I won't be watching the rest of this run of shows, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Mother of god, this is the easiest quiz ever to win..!!

All they have to do is agree beforehand, we'll all select answer B to every question... (Or if they don't want to make it obvious, they could say we'll go B-A-B-C-A etc...)

You're presuming they give the questions in the same order to the contestant as to their team.

    They don't.
