It seems Toyota won the bidding war for these premises and are opening showrooms shortly - the premises were sold for well over guide price - both €2.5m and €2.8m were mentionede in irish times article ?? . either price seems alot as sites not that large and theres plenty of empty properties in the area.

it says alot about Toyotas position in the market that the distributor has to open a retail outlet. assume as with the showroom they had beside RDS it will also be a showcase for the brand. even so its alot of money that could have gone on advertising the brand.

assume carroll and kinsella in walkinstown will close , as C & K have long ties with Toyota assume they will come to some deal , C & k built decent premises but their location down a lane made no sense.

when Dave Shannon was retiring recently as toyota irl. md he mentioned that customers liked the fact that dealers were solus outlets , obviously a dig at dealers like fitzpatricks and kearys who wanted to sell other brands alongside toyota but were not allowed.

i wonder if toyota also have problem with dealers importing / buying in alot of diff. make used cars also ? mc coy motors who are big into this are no longer a dealer and grandons in cork now only seem to buy in used toyotas from all over the country ?

I heard similar with kearys in cork who had a long association with Toyota and that's why they are no longer main Toyota dealers.
