    Hi,

About a year ago, I went to the dentist with a lump on my upper gum, that was bothering me. I got it checked out and the "dentist" said that I needed a filling on a tooth, this tooth had already received some work on it a year or two before hand.
So the dentist went and put a filling into the tooth, about two weeks later I noticed that there was a small gap at the back of the tooth, that I could feel when I rubbed my tounge off it, so I made another appointment to have this sorted (the gum was still bothering me). So at my next appointment, a new dentist looked at it, and said it needs to be filled again, but I also need two more fillings and a root canal, on the tooth with the problem gum area!! How the hell did the first dentist miss the root canal and the fact I also needed to more fillings??

So I got the work done, but still had the said pain, and lump on gum, but left it for a month or so, as I thought if may need time to heal etc. I should , that the root canal was conducted over three session, lasting about 6 weeks.

When I noticed the origional lump was still not going down I went back to the dentist a bot annoyed and asked them to look at the lump, the dentist proceeds to tell me I have an extremely infected gum and need a root canal (same dentist). I was livid, they done the first root canal on the tooth next to the problem one, they messed it up by doing the wrong tooth!! Of course dentist said no non we done the right tooth and pulled out X-ray etc. I'm really annoyed with this whole process, not just the wrong tooth having the canal, but the process from start to end

Let the dentist know your unhappy and ask for an explanation. If you not happy after that seek a second opinion.

Change dentist if you dont feel they are listening to you

they done a root canal on the wrong tooth. And when I went back they fixed it by doing another root canal on the right tooth, which was the tooth directly next to it!! What second opinion do you propose I get ???

Having to have two root canals is not unusual on teeth beside each other, decay often effects two adjacent teeth. It may be the case that the problem you had could have come for either and the choice of which to treat was not simple and you also dealing with complex and unpredictable biological systems. However if you are unhappy go to a different dentist for further treatment. I dont really know what else you can do?

Is there a question, or are you just venting?
