Happens every year. The secret is to download it in November and beat the rush.

Three is coming and going stopping and starting loading but not loading mis-leadingly for the last 2 days and I've never had any problems with Three Internet before like this, so I'm quite surprised.

Ironically enough the quickest way to get the internet delivered at Christmas is by snail mail.

Must be really slow. It took more than a week for your post to be delivered...

Considering the world and his mother is now using netflix (probably using my login as well) I've noticed it rarely, if ever, streams in hd. Same for bbc iPlayer (not that I'd, ahem, be able to use it in Ireland) which is slow except in the mornings. I blame Vodafone as they have crap backhaul.

Its just that time of year. New phones, laptops, tablets, consoles, kindles, etc. in every house. Selfies flying around the world in record numbers. Videos of drunk uncles and happy kids. It's like when the phone networks go crazy on NYE, except Xmas is a bit less intense but sustained for longer. Try not connecting all the new devices, just the one you are using

I was downloading a lot of HD porn to make up for a big delivery over Christmas. What with my bad back and Mrs. Claus still in a mood over what I did with Rudolf behind the potting shed.
I promise to stay within my limits from now on....Hohoho (with strap-ons).

    S. Claus.

Indeed, data transfer by snails is faster than ADSL

If it's fine while wired, but slow on wireless, try changing to the 5ghz channel instead.

When wired everything is fine. But do avoid the orange superman pills. Bin them.

Well living in Mayo you become used to slow or non existant internet. 4 hours for a 2gb Xbox one update, and nobobody else can use the net while its downloading.
I'd take your once a year slowdown lads just for something half decent for the rest of the year.

You can get used to .85 Mbs download speeds. You really can. I have to. No choice otherwise on copper wires.

I have UPC at home, the slowest package for 35 Euros a month, internet only.

    I always get 5MB/sec down :D

With any ADSL based service you are going to get poor/inconsistent speed & high congestion.

With Cable, if you get it working, then you'll have much higher and consistent speeds.

The problem with UPC is that if/when there is a problem, it is very very hard to convince them that it is on their end. They have you double & triple check everything in your home before they even consider looking for an outside problem. This delays things by weeks. They are also far too reliant on their remote testing which will rarely catch the common intermittent issues.

Yeah all the nerds complaining about having only 45mb/second download speed...it's tragic for them.

I am with digiweb as that is the only option here in the boonies and can only afford the lowest band of cover. When you have used that they put you on "restriction" ie slow, slow slow. At those times I can only get any service early in the morning before the world wakes up.. a five minute youtube takes half an hour..

Give it a few more days and once schools open etc it will be back to normal. It's the same every year.

When you can remember spending 8 hours on Napster downloading one album of songs, a bit of a slow down over Christmas is grand.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that much of the slowdown was due to new interned enabled devices updating all their apps the first time that they're connected and downloading several megabytes of data all at once.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's because some girl put oil on her lady parts.
