Thanks stoner. Is there a regulation i.e if the table has electrical equipment sitting on it, it has to be done?

    Agree with Stoner.

According to the National Rules for Electrical Installations ET101:2008, 544.2.8 states that "In kitchens and utility rooms extraneous conductive parts shall be connected by supplementary bonding to a local protective conductor".

    Generally no.
What type of equipment are you talking about?
