I ran DCM in October, it was a bit of a car crash, I was under prepared and very inexperienced. But lesson learned for next year.
Since then I haven't done much in the way of running. It wasn't my intention to stop, life just got in the way.
I've been out a bit over the Christmas, a few 10ks but slow uncomfortable ones.
I hope to do a half in early Feb. I'm just wondering how long it will take me to get back up to that level of fitness again. I was never a fast runner my PB for a half is 2.06 and I'd love to get that down to under 2 hours by Feb. Is that realistic?
Any advice or feed back greatly appreciated :)
    TIA.

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=90266006 will answer most of your questions and is a good place to start for next year for you. If you seriously want to improve and make less mistakes reading the full thread over a few days would be time well spent.

Thanks so much, appreciate the reply.
I did actually use that thread during last years training and found it very helpful. I didn't follow that training plan though, I might consider it for next year.
    Cheers.

Tbh, to try and go from where you are to a half mara pb in maybe 6 weeks is probably going to end up in another demoralising car crash. I dont know exactly where youre at of course, and its not impossible, but if I were you I would take a longer view, build a solid running base, and look for that pb a little later in the year.

Appreciate your honesty. I did 10 miles this morning, my longest run since October. It was fine, I survived :)
Think I'll just do the half in Feb for fun as it's a nice course. I'll take your advice and aim for a PB half later in the year.

I would agree with all the other posters here. Rather than going for a PB, focus on building up your fitness again and getting out running rather than trying to cram training in, just use the half marathon as your LSR for that week.

You are all right, I know you are. Sometimes you just need to have your own suspicions confirmed by someone else. Nice enjoyable half marathon it is then :)
