Wings of Desire has to be one of the if not the most beautiful movies I have ever seen, there is no question about it. Wim Wenders must be commended for this achievement of directing the most beautiful and poetic movie in my opinion ever made. Wim Wenders was inspired by the work of poet Rainer Maria Rilke's work and it is obvious to see that the whole movie feels like a Rainer Maria Rilke poem. Wings of Desire has to be the greatest emotional and spiritual moving film of all time without exception. The whole movie has a beautiful, poetic, haunting, spiritual and philosophical theme to it that focuses on and depicts the basic human emotions such as loneliness, belonging and desire. It is set in West Berlin and the Berlin wall is still in place. There are two angels: Damiel and Cassiel who observe the highs and lows of everyday life but can't interact with the humans. It is just perfect, nothing else compares to this remarkable achievement.
