Passat Boot leak

Got a good bit of water coming into the boot 'pocket' on the driver's side.

Rubber seal marked in the picture seems to be the source.

Question is: can I just take this bit of rubber off, clean the area and put back or do need a new bit of rubber?
Is this handy to do or should have someone else do it?
