Apologies for the silly thread but those of you who use Skype - how do calls work? If you call someone can it connect to your landline at all if you tell it to? Or is payment via credit only? I just accidently called someone on first attempt at Skype..:o

    Thanks in advance :)

Skype to skype = free (unless you're using it on a smart phone and data charges apply).

Skype to landline is a charge and you have to pay for it. You can't link it to your landline (at least I don't think you can) so you have to buy credit.

If you push this button, it will give you all the information you need on charges to call landlines and mobiles from Skype to anywhere in the world. As the other poster said, Skype to Skype is free.

Now, there you go, and may you have many wonderful Skypes in the year ahead, reconnecting with old friends, making new friends with Skype, and watching people doing dirty things on camera!

Skype has a connect charge, so even if you ring and hang up before they answer, you'll get charged.

    Try Viber instead.

You can get a virtual number with Skype which people can call from normal phones but which rings your Skype account (The Irish numbers are €15 for three months). You can also set up your caller ID so that if you ring a normal phone your mobile number would show for example (note: for the second part you need to verify ownership of the number via a texted authentication code).

What's this skype you speak of. A tin can and a string we used in my day, never did us any harm.

You can buy a Skype phone and buy a landline number for any country in the world ' I can then answer a call in Ireland after you have rang a UK number for example .

So all my family in Wales can ring a local number and get me here.you can buy as many numbers as you want and they all come into the one phone .

With technology like this you can see how people get internet scammed by scum bags
