    Hi,

Does anybody know what a "standard competency based test" is!?

I have been asked to do one after an interview. This is a new one on me! Is it a test on knowledge in my area of expertise or like those multiple choice tests?

Its a multi national company if that helps!

    Thanks

Competency based interview = Show me an example when you showed leadership etc
    star based approach.

Competency Based Test = Checking your knowledge of relevant technical terms. These are normally for entry level jobs and can consist of MCQ, calculations and definitions. Normally about 10/15 questions and are generally basic enough but no harm to do a refresher on some definitions and technical terms.(dependent on the industry).

Competency based interviews are a load of rubbish, they're basically "tell me why you're better than everyone else and prove it" sessions. Times where you struggled under pressure, worked in an unco-operative team, had a deadline coming up, had to compromise on work delivered etc. Have a few good examples learned off and adapt them to whatever you're asked.

The test is probably an aptitude test of some description, probably numerical/literacy testing and maybe a situational judgement test. Depends what your field of employment is.
