Thinking about joining a club and spotted this yesterday Donabate Golf Club are doing membership for 599 plus GUI. Anyone know the details of this deal? I intend to give them a call tomorrow just wanted to do a bit of research before I do.

That is some deal - adds fuel to the flames of another thread.

I'm not a fan of the course, but a complex with 3 - 9s, some nice enough holes and a great clubhouses, practice area, golf shop - a great deal for anybody who wants to be in a golf club.

I'll be honest and say the course condition has deteriorated over the years I've gone. But, it is golf as much as you like a GUI - weekly comps, all for 12 quid a week. Incredible.

In fairness - the times I went , there was a great bit of life around the place.

I'm not a member there but have played it many times.
During the summer the course is usually in very tidy condition.
No idea how it holds up to heavy rain though, it may be fine I dont know. Good surfaces on the green etc. There's a very good practice area too. It's often a venue for regional qualifying for inter club GUI events and I think this year it hosted the Girls Home Internationals.
For 599 per annum I would say it's great value

A great deal to be sure - just remember it's for a form of "intermediate" membership, so doesn't carry all the same rights as full membership.

That said, it's an ideal way to start golf club membership and I gather there are somewhat lower reductions in subsequent years before new starters move to the full rate of around €1,400.

As regards the course, it's fine, if a little wet underfoot when I last played it in March last year and after my own (parkland) course had dried out.
