DOES ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling is a relatively new cosmetic procedure for fine lines which I am interested in having done.I have read up on it and would have it done by a very reputable dermatologist in my own area.

However,it is quite pricey and my big question is how long would the effects last? I would expect them to last a few years for the cost to be worth it.

Has anybody had it done? Can anybody answer my question about how long the effects would last? Thanks for replies.

I haven't had it done myself yet, but I know it takes several treatments to induce collagen production and I doubt the effects are immediate.
    Here's an article about it:

Thanks Allison91 for the reply and the article.I don't mind waiting a bit to see results as long as they last a bit when they arrive.

As said above it will take a number of sessions to see results but if I remember correctly the results will last a long enough time after stopping the procedures.

Thanks Bored_lad but what's "a long enough time"? A year? Two years? More? Less? I need specifics to see if it will justify the cost.

He is a top NYC dermatologist. He believes chemical exfoliating is better

I've had the chemical exfoliation and while it is excellent for the overall complexion,it has little to no effect on wrinkles.

The treatment I'm considering is with derma pen done by the dermatologist in his clinic as opposed to derma roller which,as far as I know, you can do yourself at home. It would be four sessions a month apart.

Again my original question is for how long would the results last?

You say chemical exfoliation has had no effect on your wrinkles I'm just wondering have you asked your derm for a retin a prescription and done high % acid peels using acids such as glycolic acid.

Secondly I don't know how long the results will last. Collagen has a half live of 15 years so technically any collagen produced should last for 15 years but that doesn't mean the results will last this long as the rest of your old skin collagen will go and in certain places the wrinkles may be being formed by actions such as frowning. Lastly some of your wrinkles may not even react to micro needling.

So my advice to you is to ask your derm how long will the effects last for.

Thank you so much Bored_lad,I appreciate your advice. I had a TCA peel done and no,I was never prescribed retin A. My derm says much the same as you do about the durability of microneedling results, but I just wanted to get other opinions.I don't have so many wrinkles, more like fine lines in the usual places, but am looking into affordable treatments as a preventative measure as well as an improvement.

I have dermal rollers I bought them online and use them at home and while its a bit painful to do I do see results afterwards I find it makes my skin look far less tired. I use it for a few days every couple of weeks. It makes me sneeze (as does plucking my eyebrows) but its worth it
