Hi there,
I'm looking for some guidance or a pointer in the right direction. Does anyone know where I'd go to / get / develop a Skype like device where the caller could answer the call at the other end ie open the line. A bit like viewing a remote CCTV but where the caller is also displayed on video at the receiving end and can talk to the receiver and be seen at the receiver's end also. A video phone but where the caller opens the line and doesn't require the call to be answered.

I may be in the wrong forum, any guidance or pointers would be appreciated.

Yeah - Panasonic, Yealink, Cisco, Grandstream, Gigaset etc. do them. They're known as IP Video Phones.
Not the cheapest but quality would be good. Make sure the provider offers video calling

You could look at a product called Mobotix they do an IP video intercom which can be answered through their App, Pc or their Mx display unit or IPad/IPhone and so on. It also records the video footage of the person who comes to your door in the unit as it is a NVR also and you can associated relevant triggers to it like opening a door, turning on a light and more.
