I have a zotac 780 and an i5 3330 and my arma 3 fps in multiplayer and in cities tanks to about
28 fps and I was talking to a guy with a 980 who claimed to get 200 fps when I was getting 20fps. Is there any fixes or is it just arma 3?

I'm not sure even NASA supercomputers would get 200 fps in ARMA 3. You can probably do better than 28 fps minimum, but I wouldn't be benchmarking to bull**** tbh.

Is it running on an SSD?

Get more of a boost using one of those and most online missions the mission file sets your view distance etc.

I doubt your mate is getting 200fps but you can run this mission http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?151794-ArmA3Mark-Benchmark-your-ArmA-3

Its a benchmark for Arma 3. use the altis one.

Hunting fps in Arma games is like hunting for Unicorns in leprechaun season.

It should be installed with a sata cable direct to MB for maximum transfer speeds, it will boost the game quite a lot.

I know I will use sata but to transfer the file the instructions said to get one of those cables to transfer data

A simple rule for arma 3 is to click the autodetect button in the graphics options then turn down all the AA&PP blur settings to zero and turn off Vsync. Don't be surprised if it autodetects some settings as Ultra as turning down certain things like shadow detail to Low forces the calculations onto your CPU instead of your graphics card. Arma is already heavily CPU dependent so you need as much processing to be done by your graphics card as possible. Turning off vsync might help because sometimes games will sync back to 30fps if they cannot hit 60fps (which is almost always the case in arma but some prefer a more consistent 25-30fps to an unstable 30-70 fps when trying to hit moving targets etc)

Arma is also affected by the server performance so certain missions and mods will eat into your fps too especailly if a server hasn't been restarted for a while. 200fps in Arma is 200% BS

There are also startup parameters that can be set from the arma 3 launcher but I can't remember the optimal parameters off the top of my head and in my case they didn't help.

There are plenty of tweak guides around.

I get 40-50 fps on my 7870 with alot of stuff high or maxed.
