I don't think this has been mentioned here but the popular Irish country music shows from the Co. Mayo based Irish West Music TV and Hot Country (and also Donegal TV)
have 'jumped ship' to (FTA) satellite channel BnanzaBnanza (BonanzaBonanza) which otherwise puts out 1950s/ 1960s US TV shows and shopping programmes. This channel has been on for the past few months and obviously some country music fans with FTA satellite would need help tuning it in.

    Sky Channel 266
    Freesat UK 157
    and tuned in at
    12515 MHz Horizontal ( 22000 5/6) on other receivers

These shows had been going out on Irish TV (Sky 191 and FTA) but that is no longer the case since earlier this month for whatever reason?? One would have thought it mutually beneficial all these shows on the Irish TV channel

    Irish West Music TV:
"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday night @ 10PM"

    HOT COUNTRY:
"Broadcast times are Monday and Wednesday 8 – 9 pm on sky 266 Freesat 157 and free to air Bonanza Bonanza TV"

Donegal TV: "Starting Thursday 8th January @ 9:30pm to 10pm & every Thursday Donegal TV will air a half hour weekly programme on Sky 266 & Freesat 157 on BonanzaBonanza in Ireland & all of the UK."

These are awful shows. Modern Irish 'country' music has got to be the worst music ever without doubt. Tame, soulless, cliched, fake, plastic, paddywhackery, etc. = ALL good words to describe it.

Why are there so much of this drivel everywhere. It is on these channels and it is on the Late Late Show and is constantly on TG4. Sung for the most part in faked over the top American accents by white hatted men from inland Galway or the midlands, it is the ultimate torture music. But the singers of it are laughing all the way to the bank. At least the older Irish country singers like Daniel O'Donnell or Larry Cunningham sung their songs sincerely and in their own voice. But the new age Irish country singer are so fake and plastic-like. I can see the appeal of the older ones but for the life of me, I cannot understand the appeal of the newer ones.
