Disboards.com is a good place to start for DisneyWORLD Florida ;)

I did it last year. Booked with Touramerica in their crazy sunday day at Red Cow hotel dublin.

Went Dublin-Gatwick-Orlando. Mum, dad, 2 year old and 9 year old. Stayed in Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

I went the week after Easter the place was empty. Brilliant spot. Mad to see it. I did have my own personal tour guide as my cousin worked there part time and knew all the tricks of the trade.

What parks do you recommend / not recommend. If going again would you stay in the same resort. How much did it cost?

    Tks

OP, in case you missed that hint, Disneyland is in California, the place in Orlando is called DisneyWorld. Just in case you go elsewhere looking for advice.

just to say its going to be quiet busy that time of year in the parks with schools out and college kids on spring break

what i recommend is to arrive at animal kingdom before the gates open as that place will be thronged by 11am.

make sure you are in magic kingdom at closing time to take in the parade and the fireworks over the castle. the lightshow a few minutes after the fireworks is amazing.

learn all about single line riders and use it where available. use the complimentary disney transport where available ie free buses between parks, boat between hollywood studios and epcot and the monorail between epcot and magic kingdom

universal studios/islands of adventure (about 14 miles north of disney) and seaworld (about 10 miles north of disney) are also must dos while in orlando. kids will love islands of adventure especially given its full of cartoon/adventure themed high-octane rides, the spiderman and popeye rides are incredible

remember these parks are HUGE. one park will take you the whole day to see properly and disney has 4 main parks (2 other water parks), universal has 2 parks and seaworld takes a whole day to see fully. plan your day from an early morning buffet breakfast to stocking up on water as the free park water from the taps i would't really recommend. sunburn and tiredness (especially with young kids) is an issue. hottest time of the day in orlando is around 12-2pm so use that time for a break not standing outside in a giant queue for the next ride

if you have the time visit a park every second day, there is a ton of stuff to see and do in orlando besides the major theme parks, gatorland is about 10 miles west of disneyworld . orlando is full of shopping malls http://www.visitorlando.com/things-to-do/shopping/

OP, if you have 2 1/2 weeks for the entire trip, consider splitting your time between Orlando and one of the beaches, such as Clearwater. Two weeks is a long time to be doing just the theme parks.

As another poster said, try to avoid Easter if you can, as the rates will be very high then. Also avoid Spring Break, which is when all the students take over Florida and go wild. Not only are the rates also high during spring break season, it can get very, very messy. It probably won't affect you during the day at the theme parks, but you really don't want to be stuck in a hotel or on a beach, with a bunch of drunken students going wild all around you.
