    Hi

Just a quick question here, is it reasonable to go for a manicure with polish on and expect it will be removed as part of the manicure?

or should you clean if off yourself beforehand?

I'd be interested in the answers to this too, went for a pedicure once and got moaned at for having a bit of polish left on my toenails. The girl bitched and moaned her way through the 40 or so seconds it took to remove it :P When I mentioned the experience to someone else she was surprised and said her manicurist always removes polish for her!

I've been to a few places with polish on and they always just remove it, only takes a minute.

    Thank you :)

I gave up eating my nails about three months ago and am not well versed in manicure etiquette apart from getting shellac removed, so wondered about this :)

I always have polish on. It's not a big deal to remove it.

Sometimes I think they get annoyed about glitter polish that is very difficult to take off but I would have thought it was part of the package unless you got a very cut price deal or something.

I have always went for manicures with my nails already painted. I never even thought about taking it off! Oops.

I get gel polish now so it's too hard to take off myself but I go every 2/3 weeks for a mani/pedi so I don't think the lady minds removing it for me.

Not the previous poster, but I used to bite my nails when I was younger. When I was about 13, I stopped by not chewing one nail at a time, ie, letting my right thumb nail grow and chewing the other nine, then eight, then seven, etc. I'd file and polish the unbitten ones so that they looked nice. Habit was finally broken by the time all ten had grown out :)

I literally decided one Friday to stop and went for a mini manicure. Stopped biting and had regular manicures to get a nice shape on them as in the past I stopped and had no idea how to maintain them. The thought of biting them was deterred at the thoughts of the money wasted in manicures as a result

Mine are so bitten I'd be embarrassed to ask anyone to a manicure! I just have to stop, disgusting habit!

Mine were the same, the first day the lady doing the manicure said there was little she could do :D

Aren't you always meant to wipe your nails with remover to remove any oils from your nails??

I used to bite my nails when I was younger and still do when I'm stressed. They are in such bad condition now that they just tear whenever they grow a bit. I love to paint them and have them looking nice but my polish always chips within a few hours. I use a base coat, two coats of polish and a topcoat.

I was very lucky, I keep getting told I have very strong nails ever since I stopped biting them!
