Fitting a filter is just going to see you constantly emptying it, find the cause and start there.

    thanks for the replies lads.

im presuming the main problem is the well itself - the dirt has to be coming from somewhere so short of drilling a new one the only things I can think of doing are try clean out the tank which will be a difficult task due to where its placed and add a filter. I don't mind having to clean out a filter if it helps ease the problem im currently having.

is there anything else I could try?

Are you sure it's a dirt problem and not a Limescale problem. If it is Dirt then fit a Sediment filter before the tank.

Your electric shower already has a filter. I can't see any benefit in fitting second filter. you still have to clean a filter.

yes its dirt - really fine stuff. that sediment filter sounds like a good idea ill look into that thanks.

I know my shower has a filter but its tiny - I cleaned it out yesterday put it back together turned it on and within a matter of seconds it was clogged again!

emptied the tank today and cleaned out the bottom so I should be ok for a while but its only a temporary fix.

the shower hasn't worked right since it got clogged up so id say theres been damage done but that's a separate issue.

if you use another filter then you need to do away with the filter in the shower. electric showers are designed to have a certain flow going through them. this is why they go hot and cold while blocked. adding a second filter May cause problems like this and definitely void the warranty. if I were you I would redrill the tank an inch or so higher and not add a second filter.

    Hi Sonic
Is the water pumped into tank from well with well pump or is it a suction pump only. If so what size pipe is it. Are you pumping out of tank then to house ? post rough drawing of all and tank etc and I will have a look at the best way to fix your problem. I have a wide range of filters etc available to me.

I'm in a house with a terrible lime problem.5 showers in 5 years. its a rented house so we're not going to fit a softener before its suggested. Is there anything that can be done besides a softener to save these showers? Triton z90

you can get the elements replaced for150 Euro instead of replacing the whole shower. limescale only wears out the elements. The rest of the shower Will be perfect and will be covered with a 2 year parts and Labour warranty.
when you are finished in the shower run it on cold for 20 seconds. limescale only forms on hot elements.

Mira showers tend to last better in lime areas, there some way they do it that cracks the lime off the element.

You see it in half round sections that fill up the shower head
