Anyone recommend the cheapest laptop soley for watching streaming on a tv. Needs hdmi and run internet reasonably quick. For the old man to watch soccer matches off my skygo so no need for any extras. Internet is just about good enough for streaming so any laptop would need to be quick that way.

If the laptop will not be used as a laptop, and will just be plugged into a TV, then something like the above would be a great alternative. Purpose built, quiet and running Windows and best of all very cheap.

Do I need a keyboard and mouse with that?

It will run flash too I suppose?

You would need a keyboard and mouse, but you can get media keyboards with a touchpad built in which would do the job!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Media-Keyboard-Integrated-Multi/dp/B00K2SY902/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420453523&sr=8-1&keywords=microsoft+media+keyboard

Once you have that then you're sorted. Flash will run fine, and pretty much anything else that you would run on a normal low end laptop. So browsing/HD videos etc will be fine.

I would keep an eye on that thread (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057354143) and see what happens, if reviews come back favourable then go for it! On paper it suits your needs perfectly, better than any laptop. But there is an element of unknown to it.

That being said, the processor/RAM etc is all good, so I can't see it going wrong really.

What would be the difference here to a chromecast? besides running android and windows. would that in itself affect the websites systems available? I've an idea what XBMC is but i think i'd need a run through with a someone who uses it. Will it rock my world?
