Anyone selling on Amazon, I do some arts & craft stuff (paintings) that I sell every now and then on Ebay. Had a look at Amazon and just cant get my head around it.

    Q 1, can I sell from Ireland into Ireland/UK/EU

Q 2, it looks to me like Amazon rap, pack & ship the item for you (how doe's that work)----????

Q 3, Ebay clearly shows your shipping destinations, but can't see this on Amazon

Q 4, which is better Ebay or Amazon.

I'm at the minute not an Amazon member for selling or buying so I have never had dealings with them at all.

As far as I know you need a UK bank account to sell on Amazon. I looked into once and hit that hurdle, didn't go any further then, too much hassle.

I used to sell on Amazon but the fees were a joke so I rarely sell now

    On your specific questions

    1. I think you need a UK bank account

    2. Only if is 'fulfilled' by Amazon. You send your stuff to Amazon and they deal with it. I did not use this, I sold privately through Amazon

    3. When you list, you choose where you will ship

    4. Amazon is more expensive to sell although sometimes you get better prices

You can use an Irish bank account. I did selling on Amazon through FBA for a good while. Fees are quite high but nice not having to deal with anything really.

    I sell on Amazon UK.
    CDs, DVDs, LPs, books.

An Irish bank account is sufficient.

    You can post worldwide.

Amazon is better than Ebay because your listings stay there forever and you can, at a glance, tell what price other people are selling the product for.

I also sell stuff on Ebay and Discogs [nothing at the moment].

In 10 years I have only had ONE customer from Ireland. I don't get it.

Yes, you can choose to sell to UK, Europe or worldwide. You can't sell to Ireland without selling to the rest of Europe too.
Q 2, it looks to me like Amazon rap, pack & ship the item for you (how doe's that work)----????
That is called FBA (fulfilled by Amazon). You can do that, but don't have to. Most sellers pack and post the item themselves (merchant-fulfilled), just like on eBay. You would probably only do FBA if you're selling more items than you can handle yourself.
Q 3, Ebay clearly shows your shipping destinations, but can't see this on Amazon
Amazon.co.uk have four zones: UK, Europe, Europe & USA, and worldwide. You could sell on Amazon.com if you just wanted to sell to the USA. Same for Germany, France and all the other local Amazon sites.
Q 4, which is better Ebay or Amazon.
For selling original artwork, eBay is better. Amazon would expect you to have a barcode for each item you produce, so it's not really suited to selling unique items, but it's perfect for multiples of the same product (prints, for example).

There's also Etsy.com. I haven't used it myself, but it seems to be good for artists selling their own work.

For selling artwork check out this site https://www.etsy.com/

Amazon isn't really the place to sell your own crafted items.

That is strange, do you sell many video games? I have sold 25 items on Amazon, 21 to mainland UK, 1 to Denmark, 2 to NI and 2 to ROI.

It's great getting an Irish sale as I get credited 4.02 pounds for shipping while it only costs 1.65 euros to send :) I do offer a partial refund if the Irish customers gets in contact but it has yet to happen.

How about Gumtree UK , can you just sign up to Gumtree UK and sell from here, had a read through the rules and can't see why not.
