Does the 'AUDIO' button on the remote, below-right of the down arrow, not do anything for you?

The remote is different to the one in the manual linked above. it doesnt have an audio button. The model number for this combox sv-401

Is there a small 'LANG' button? (Short for 'language'?) Maybe that does something.

Go to the language button "LANG". In that menu there is a selection between English and undefined. Select the one that's not selected.

Language and selecting English worked for me.
