SW sent me cheque 10 days ago never arrived

Where do I go from here. I contacted my local welfare office and they said it was issued on the 19th Dec.

Wait another few days I would suggest.

With the backlog of post and the offices being shut for the holidays (25-29) it will probably take another few days.

I had a package posted to me on the 18th and it arrived today.

I'm just worried if someone else got their hands on it would they have been able to cash it without my social services card? Some lazy Post office workers don't even bother ask for ID.
I find it bizzare that SW couldn't tell me if the cheque was cashed or not the system must be very oldfashioned :-/
