Advice on setting up DVD player with Saorview

    Apologies if this is the wrong place to post, but I'm looking for advice on setting up a DVD player for my parents. They have a Saorview box and one for Free to Air channels - the latter is connected to the tv by scart. They had a DVD player set up by the person who installed their satellite dish,but the player itself stopped working so they took it away and bought a new one, which they're hoping I can set up while I'm home. I'm not having much luck though, so would be grateful for any advice! Basically, which of the boxes should I connect the player to? I've tried both, but when I press 'source' on the tv remote it switches between HDMI1 and EXT without showing the DVD. Thanks!

    Can you plug it direct into the TV? ..... maybe HDMI2?

    Are there any spare inputs into the TV with both the Saorview and satellite receiver connected?
    What outputs are available on the DVD player?

    See page 8 of this booklet for a possible setup, the Saorview receiver in this setup may have to be in standby to allow the DVD output to pass directly to the TV via EXT (scart).

    Thanks, The Cush - the booklet was all I needed and you were completely right - once the Saorview receiver is on standby, the DVD player automatically came on. Really appreciate the advice - it was great to be able to get it set up for my parents before the holidays were over and I had to head off again :-)
