    Hi all,
Fairly new as a poster in this forum but a regular reader.

I have a question about my NH ts100. Lately we noticed a lack of power and extra smoke coming from the breather pipe from the sump. After a visit from the mechanic we were told we have engine trouble which is looking like a cracked piston.
We will need to do some ripping to find out the exact cause.
I am wondering if it would be possible to put a ts115 engine in to replace the ts100 turboed one we already have? Both are power star engines. The extra few horses would be a big help here as it comes up abit short when we are agitating or mowing.

Are back ends in both tractors the same?

Or is this a crazy idea which would cost more money than is worth talking about?

    All opinions appreciated

Trade it in...is obviously under pressure powerwise...hense internal damage....you are always going to push it to its limits and awaiting it to damage again (afaik ts are good to hold value)

I couldn't tell you about the backend being the same or not though

    is the ts100 a 4 cylinder and the ts115 a six cylinder?

Yup ts100 is 4 cyl, TS 115 is 6 cylinder.

Looking at tractordata website there, it looks as if the backends, based on lift capacity, are similar.

I'd be thinking that upgrading the engine, would be difficult, think I'd simply trade in or sell as is and upgrade. If 100hp is under pressure regularly, you should possibly go for a bit more than 115 hp?

youll buy a tm140 or 155 for not much price difference to a ts115

ts115 are sought after and are dear

the 140 or 155 will more than likely have been a contractors tractor so getting a mechanic to give a once over would be a good idea

these men have a good selection of new hollands

Cracked piston means wear on the block which can be relined
    I had trouble on a 6 cyl ts115a which wore 3 liners

Relined the block 6 new pistons 3 new con rods new oil pump( housing cracked causing the damage) new water pump over hauled the injectors and put a second hand head on it
    7 k

4 cyl will be much cheaper

Same back end, different bonnet and exhaust set up. Think the actual bonnet is the same just they don't cut the exhaust hole in it and fit a big black spacer between the bonnet and cab.

Even if the six cylinder fitted straight in, lots of stuff to change. Driveshaft to axle, steering pipes, oil lines , some water pipes, bonnet ,wiring etc.
