Are you meeting much in general? Did you release many?

Still a few birds knockin about on Blessington GC land. Obviously numbers will drop off as the season proceeds with the "easy" birds being bagged in the first few weeks. Many lads go back on the ducks after Christmas or the woodcock/snipe which are starting to come in in good numbers now that the cold weather is kicking in here and in Europe

During the Summer I saw more wild clutches than I'd seen for many years and the club also released a large number of birds, so I was looking forward to and expecting a really good season.

Unfortunately it hasn't turned out like that and both myself and my shooting buddy have less than a handful shot each . What is even more disappointing is that we haven't come across any of the birds stocked this year. In fact all were wild birds bar one cock, which we could tell from the colour of the ring , was released last year.

In short the pheasant shooting on our ground has been very poor this year and I've had to venture much further afield , where I have another permission. Thanks to recent colder weather the number of woodcock coming in has increased and the duck shooting there has also been very good , so at least the dogs are now getting some decent sport.
