Is washing machine connected to mains?

We're renting an apartment and the water pump is currently broken meaning we have no cold water available in the shower/ hand basin in the bathroom. We have hot water, and the mains water supply in the kitchen is fine. There is a plumber coming to replace the pump this week but just wondering if the washing machine is likely to be affected? I was going to put on a wash but if there's no water am concerned about damaging the machine...

If the washing machine is connected to the mains then you should hear the water rushing into the detergent tray, if not then all you get will be a trickle. The worse thing that can happen is that the washing machine will not wash the clothes properly.
Have you tried to switch off the electrical supply to the pump for one minute, then switch it back on. This normally re-sets the pump and gets it going again.

I'll give it a go then if it won't damage the machine. Tried that with the pump but no luck unfortunately
