Specific Car Wanted; Audi 80 with a Diesel engine

As the title says I want one of these,
Audi 80 with one of the diesel engines, preferably a Tdi that hasn't anything done to it (the 1z)
As for the condition i don't mind one that needs mechanical work, that's the easy bit it's the paintwork that needs to be good otherwise the offer will be a really low one to factor in one of the mates for bodywork.
No rust, Not that these were a magnet for it!
Colour isn't very important but black white and red are desirable.
Avant or saloon or even a coupe but the coupes only had the petrol engines from factory.

I like these over the a4 for their simple suspension and lack of wires, i drove one into the ground a couple of times last summer on a farmyard, liturly bent the chassis and bent the radiator. It kept driving! And drove it's way to the guy that bought it. I've never seen a more durable, comfy user friendly big saloon car.
    Thanks

Not many of these left around this country anyway and the majority of those still going are in poor condition at this stage I'd guess. Might be more choice in the UK if that's an option for you.

It's funny any that I've seen are in good condition body wise, Audi being one of the few painting cars properly in the 80/90's.
Mate also has one and he just keeps it clean, new turbo and clutch then it's good for another 200k miles!

Going to look at this one in particular http://cars.donedeal.ie/view/7909215

As for England it's the sheer cost of just getting it back, which isn't huge but it's the price of a respray or an engine overhaul at the end of the day!
Was working on a 10year old a4 the other day with 130km miles and it showed every sign of wear and tear simply because there is alot MORE in it, the suspension has alot more joints and the cv joints aren't holding up well atall,

Anyway if anyone else has one I'd be very interested

My first car was a 92 audi 80 2.0 petrol back in 2000. Fantastic car. Rock solid.
Often thought of picking up a late model cabriolet just to keep as they were made for years after the A4 arrived.

Theres a cabriolet in a garage beside me here, clean too but its the v6
Year 2000 i think, could get ya the number if you like, would be going for small money since no-one wants a big engine

They weren't painting cars properly or any better than others, but the body of that model (and some other Audi models at the time) was zinc galvanised.
Great cars. I was looking for an Avant for myself some time ago, but could never find a good enough example.

    What he said!:-D
Yea it was the galvanising that made them good, good cars die young too. Theyre never the ones you see on classifieds that often

Big thanks to Dermo123, he has what I'm after
