    So AH,

What have you been films you been watching this year?

    So far:

    Back to the future,
    Harry Potter,
    It's a wonderful Life
    Star Trek,
    Despicable Me,
    Monster Inc,

One or two others I cannot remember..

No Home Alone yet? Did I miss it?

Edit: movies you have been watching over the Christmas, not necessarily Christmas movies.

Usually it's on 6 times before the new year, I'm sure I will get another chance.

First home alone sky bought the rights so you'll only be getting it on Sky Movies that's why you haven't seen it. Same with elf

Why the feck is Harry Potter considered a Christmas movie? Every year there's a marathon of the whole series.

Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie.

Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie.

Agreed, but it doesn't seem to be on anywhere at all.

Home Alone was on on RTE when I watched it with the kids, watched Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory straight after it, don't have Sky Movies in my house

Waiting for someone to say that.

Die Hard 2 is the second best.

I mean xmas films. Die Hard with a vengeance is great.
    Die hard 4 was ok.

We'll just pretend that Die Hard 5 never happened.

"It's a wonderful life" was on last week, the original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was on I think Christmas Eve, and there was a Tarzan marathon on today on TCM (Johnny Weissmuller).

Maybe it was the second one, I was blurry eyed on the couch, apologies if mistaken

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original 1971 version)

Nothing to do with Chrsitmas, I know, but it was always on sometime around the holiday when I was a kid and it became associated with crristmas...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Willy Wonka has no reference to Christmas.

We're doing our own Harry Potter marathon, on the Order of the Phoenix today so it'll be the Half Blood Prince tomorrow and then on Monday a double feature of the Deathly Hallows. Then we'll be having all the Lord of the Rings (extended versions obviously) and then the Matrix.
Obviously not Christmas movies but boxsets that you only really have enough time to get through at Christmas.

As for Christmas movies we've watched all the Home Alone movies, the Santa Clause movies, all the variations of Scrooge and A Christmas Carol, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (original).

Aliens. There's nothing better than watching acid-blooded Aliens getting blasted to bits to get into the Xmas spirit.

    When's that on?

I like Platoon this time of year too.

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory might not have anything to do with Christmas but it was always shown at Christmas when I was a child and I caught it on rte this Christmas morning and to me it will always be my favourite Christmas film!

"A Christmas story" wins hands down.

No Star Wars on the box this year. Very disappointing from the TV companies.

    Santa Claus the movie
    The Santa clause
    Arthur Christmas
    Home alone
    Home alone 2
    Elf

That's all we've watched this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Calibos

Caught a bit of the Princess Bride last night. Thought to myself, "Oh, this looks like the Princess Bride. Never actually saw this. Seems to be a bit of a cult favourite IIRC"......... Turned it off after 15 minutes. WTF?? Its not a serious film and yet it wasn't funny either??? Explain??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,260 ✭✭✭Mink

    Polar express
    National lampoons Christmas vacation
    The family man
    The family stone

Also a nod to the short films the gruffalo, the gruffalos child, the snowman and the snowmans dog

The Muppet Family Christmas on DVD. It's hard to watch anything in its entirety in my house so I saw the first half of Scrooged on Christmas Eve on RTE and the end of it last night on some other channel. I did see all of the Muppet Christmas Carol though on Christmas Eve too so I did well.

Scrooged is my favorite Christmas movie. Bill Murray at his best.

    Glazers Out!

You wouldn't describe The Princess Bride as 'funny'?
I do not think it means what you think it means.
