Does anybody know the story that the author mentions at the end of the book about the microwave transmitters being used for transmitting market data?

    I don't understand what you're asking.

It's just HFT firms acquiring the ability to transfer data/trades at a faster rate than competitors.

    Hi Ixus,

I understand the principle behind HFT but at the end of the book the author references the fact that there is yet another story of financial arbitrage behind the microwave transmitters. So I was wondering if anybody knew what that was?

Been a while since I read it so can't remember off hand. Don't think it's anything ground breaking.

It is a very good book. I would recommend The Big Short as well.

The Wall Street Journal had a short article on the story at the end of the book: http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2014/04/07/digging-into-the-cliffhanger-that-ends-the-new-michael-lewis-book/

Read it on my holidays in the summer and like all his books, it was engrossing.

Not quite convinced it gives the full picture, but to catapult something like HFT into the popular consciousness takes some skill, no doubt about it.

Wasn't worth starting a thread over, but for any of you interested in Lewis's work, "The Big Short" looks like it will be coming to the big screen.
