    Hi all,

Going applying for a job as a counter assistant in a cafe. A few months ago l was working in a cafe but only lasted 3 months, and it was down to the manager being a total bitch. l couldnt stay there any longer, was going through a difficult time so had to leave for the sake of my mental health.

l was good enough at the job, l also worked in a hotel for 2 years and l do enjoy this kind of work. My boss from the cafe understood why l elft and told me she would give me a refence no bother, as she didnt want to see me out of work and thought highly of me.

So my question, should l mention this job in the cafe in my cv, even though l only lasted 3mnts (which looks bad esp when lm applying for the same position) but have been given a good reference??

Yeah you should! sure your new employer might not even ask you about it..they'd probably be more interested to know why you left your hotel position after 2 years.

I was in the same boat. I was doing work experience for college..kind of a summer job. had to leave after 6 weeks because my boss was bullying me and I just couldn't stick it anymore. I dreaded going in there and seeing her big stupid face.

The next job I applied for, my boss never asked me anything about it…and I'm still here 5 years later :)

Plus, she's decent enough to give you a good reference..so I'm sure your new employer won't be suspicious :)

See l dont mind if the employer asked about it, its just s/he will be looking at my cv first, and might judge me because of that...without me even given a chance to explain or offered an interview...

Nah look, at the end of the day, a CV is only a piece of paper. They'll prob just scan through it. They will only get to see and know the real you by chatting with you.
Don't fret! You're over qualified for your job!

    Mention everything.
I have a job that lasted 3 weeks on mine, I then moved to a much more challenging role. I use that to try and demonstrate how I am up for new challenges

But its the piece of paper that manager will look at to interview people. If you dont impress them on a CV, there will no interview. I worked in a shop and I constantly got CVs. Looking at people with masters and 5 years retail experience proved to me. There is always someone more qualified than the next in any job.

OP include it. Just say you left to do a more challenging job or you were going to do a full time course. Whether reason you give. Make sure its positive
