So my Lil man will be one in march. I know its miles away yet but hoping to nab something in the sales but haven't a clue what to get him.
Since he is our second child we have the usual stuff already (vetch walker, vetch activity table, cody bear, ball pit, toot toot drivers stuff, books and trike (trike is pink but OH is going to re spray it to boys colour))
Anyway we haven't a clue what to get him. Our daughter will be 3 only a few weeks after his birthday so we are getting her her first bike (in the sales) . I suggested a trike for him but as our daughter wont be using hers anymore OH is just going to re paint it for him or put him in it pink, im not overly bothered by that.

    So any ideas?

I always got mine a token gift at that age. They are too young to be aware of what is going on so they don't need anything special. Why would you go to the trouble of spraying the bike? Can he not use it as it is?

Re spraying the bike, like in GTA when you need to lose your wanted level :-)

Id use it pink, he's been in it loads already but OH is a sprayer by trade so its more of a project for him than a necessity in fairness. Makes no odds either way.

See we got stuff for our daughters first birthday (swing set) so id just feel bad not getting him something. We will go for a day out anyway to a pet farm or zoo or something.
But ah I duno just would be nice for him to get something.

Have exactly the same prob - our wee man is one in january, and got all the toys from his older brother. We're getting him a scout bear, you can program them to the kids' name, so both boys will have something personalised. He'll also get his "own" plate n cup set (just different animals on it) :)

It's hardly going to impact upon the child, is it?

Come on. im not even going to justify why i want to buy my son a first birthday present.
If you have nothing helpful to post, post nothing at all.

Have the cookie jar, he loves it.

    Have a ball pit too.

Rocking horse looks good though. We have a bounce and spin zebra but i suppose they are different.

My daughter has ALOT of stuff. Myself and OH both have 3 siblings and are very close so she gets stuff off them at every birthday and xmas (this year we dont secret santa though)
    so she has acquired alot.
Add to this the 2 grannies and they really are spoilt with toys.

was just looking at that. might be an idea too. I dont want to spend €65 on it but if i got it for less would be good.

    Thanks

I'm in the same boat Succee: except two girls! I was half thinking of splurging all together and buying a decent playhouse because we don't have space for swings or a trampoline (well we do but if we had either there would be no other space).

Going to get her one of the lost my name books too.

That fisher price car is still despite santy played with every day here: by both! It's amazing.

This rocker is reduced. Loved by my one year old and my 2 year old nephew.

If they have loads of 'big' things already (for want of a better way to put it!) something along the lines of the cookie jar ie small plastic thingy that makes loads of noise might do ya. There's a wall of them in smyths.

    Have the cookie jar.

I do like that rocker. was looking at those when i went off on my rocking horse hunt.
Also thinking scuttlebug may be an idea.
    Anyone have one?
it says suitable from 1 but mmm, im not too sure.

Oh cyning its so hard isnt it.

Did you check out the toys in Ikea suucee? They are reasonable and very robust. I have lots of them and they're all very well used. They have a rocking moose which is so cute!

    Im not really near Ikea.

Like those trains Pwurple. Might be an idea too. A got thomas set for xmas and loves it so might be his own set.

Think ive settled on a scuttlebug for him.

Am in exactly the same position for when my girl turns one! My fella has a scuttlebug! He only got it a few months ago but omg he loves it! It's one of the things that has had the most use! At 1 he defo would've been too young for it (he didn't walk till 14months). But I'd defo recommend it and sure some kids start walking way younger anyway.

You could pick up a nice little kitchen in the sales? My son loves the little kitchens. He doesn't have one but when he uses them at playgroup he always brings he cups over to me and says "make mama cuppa tea!". Lol. So I'm thinking I may get this for my daughter when she turns one. :). I really have no clue!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

Have a kitchen . (2 actually, 1 in the play room, 1 in the garden)

Think ill go with scuttlebug. Seriously doubt he'll be walking but sure he can grow in to it. OH will have trike sorted so that will be like new.

So going to get one of those plastic rocking horses, scuttlebug and 2 toys from the 2 for €20 in argos.

My kids are seriously coming across as spoilt but we actually dont spend a lot on them its the amount of relatives they have and my daughters extreamly generous godmother

I think the scuttlebug is a great idea, bought it for my niece for her first birthday and she loved it! Wish i had it for my ds1 when he was little. Def getting it for ds2 in aug for his first birthday as well!
