    Hi,

I am going on an unexpected trip to Limerick tomorrow from Galway and I will be getting the train. I have purchased my ticket online but I will be travelling with a 70 year old person who has a free travel pass. How would I get her ticket? Does she just show the pass to the inspector or do we need to get a ticket before boarding the train?

    Thanks!

You normally show the cashier at the station you are departing from the free travel pass and they then issue you with a ticket for the journey there and then. Not sure what the situation is if the station is unmanned.

As far as I can tell the booking office in Galway Ceannt train station is closed on Saturdays. I'm not really sure what to do now. I can't find anything on the iarnrod eireann website about how to get a ticket for someone who has a travel pass.

Most mainline station booking offices are manned in and around train departure times. A major station such as Galway will will be open tomorrow. Just ensure that you arrive a few minutes ahead of time so that you can sort out your friends ticket.

Ok thank you. We are arriving in Galway an hour before the train departs so we will have plenty of time. Thanks again :)

Its probably too late now but as has been said, most will be manned at times trains are due. But of not a staff member at the barrier will let you through once you show your pass and the same at the other side.

Hi, Yeah that's how it worked. When we were leaving Galway the booking office was closed and the person at the barrier just waved her through but when we were leaving Limerick the booking office was open and she got her actual ticket :)
