Laptop dead

It won't boot at all, no LEDs for when I plug in the charger, power button does nothing, no sound from the fan or the hard drive. It was working this morning, tried powering it on, nothing. It's a 3 year old Asus K53S. Should I just forget about it and order a new laptop? I just want one for everyday use and writing projects etc. for school. Opinion on this?

    Thanks

Remove battery, hold the power button for 10 seconds, then reinsert and try again. Does the power plug/adapter have any lights on it when plugged in?

No luck with the holding of the power supply and yes, the actually charger has a green LED on the block but no lights appear on the laptop. They usually do when plugged in.
