Audio issue with desktop PC

    Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this so feel free to move it if necessary.

The volume on my PC is very, very low. And, if the volume spikes on an audio or video file, the clip then crashes and refuses to play. This is very frustrating. I'm looking for it to be repaired but not sure where to go to. A google search proved confusing...can anyone make any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    P

It's a custom build CD so no name. Windows 8.

Can you check the EventViewer and check the reason for the crashes ?

Obvious first check is the Device Manager and make sure all the Drivers are installed correctly. Check for any yellow exclamation marks beside devices in the list. Are you using the standard 3.5mm audio outs or have you some sort of USB speakers ?

Is this just a recent phenomenon or has it been that way since built ? What app are you using to play the video/audio files ? Does the problem happen with all media apps ? What about the normal Windows sounds ? Are they too effected ?
