What with the highs for the dairy men and the lows for the beef producers, sheep farming has kinda been flying under the radar this year. How did it go for you? Have you learned any valuable lessons?

Dip earlier, clip earlier, don't get lazy and neglect the tail rings. Aim for better % twins next year. Spray the brains out of the rushes, it's like getting a few extra acres for free....

Looked at lamb looses for the year. Three main culprits. Fox,maggots, internal worms. Each one of them kill lambs. Intend being on top of each one this year.

Learn't about maggots the hard way myself this year. Will also have to look at finishing times for lambs next year in relation to market conditions. Didn't appear to time things well in that regard this year:(.

Don't wean as early as I did. Follow the plan and send the lambs back to the hill after weaning. Drought is really bad for my farm.

Apart from that I'm actually fairly happy with how things went this year.

went well this year, although we had a few bad thrivers this year, if we get another few this year, we'll have to blood test.
hope to put down a dipping bath in 2015

    Went all right.
I wasn't happy with how the lambs did during the summer, but maybe it worked out better, as sold em later for maybe a better price... Hard to know...

I think weaning late didn't help the lambs, but grass management needs to improve (altho I say this every year) :(

But all in all, wasn't too bad a year.

Lots to improve for next year, but sure that'll always be the case I'd say... :)

I thought this year was one of my best years. Had done allot of improvements (reseeding and drainage and yard improvements) over the past few years and it really bore fruit this year.
Fed very little meal to ewes and lambs as had plenty of grass.
    Average lamb price was good.

Hopefully next year will be as good.
