As far as I can understand, he is a homosexual man. He made a speech dressed as a drag queen which was fantastic. It saw him then get the Irish person of the year award and he was dressed as a drag queen that nigh also. By day he is just a normal man.

Can somebody explain to me the whole drag queen thing? I hope I don't offend anybody here by the way.

Nothing to explain really. Some people like to play dress up.

Its just a form of entertainment. No different to Lily Savage or Mrs Brown. Panti received the award because it was Panti who made the speech that was the focus of the award. Some people like drag, some people hate it but like anything there are good queens and bad. Depends on your interests. I have a few I think are fantastic and others I wouldn't be bothered seeing.

How do you determine who's good or bad? It's still a bloke dressed as a woman, they all kinda look the same with the gaudy dress, big chicken fillet boobs and a five o clock shadow. Unless we start talking about those Thai lads who get the surgery done

You know if you go to the Abbey and see someone acting in a play.

It's a bit like that but a bit more vaudeville. He performs (or acts if you will) in a show on a stage in a bar.

And some people like to watch it. It is entertainment to some people.

Same way you determine if anything is good or bad, check it out. Some queens do variety, some do singing, some do comedy. Don't assume because its a bloke in a dress that they won't be able to entertain.

I'd never assume they would either simply because they're a bloke in a dress. I never liked O' Neill tbh, always came off like an OTT drama queen.

This, on the other hand, is what I consider entertainment -

@OP, that was the first time I'd actually watched that speech in it's entirety, still can't believe the big deal was made of it tbh. I prefer my entertainment to be entertaining though.
