Amazon Fire TV - XBMC?

    Hi all,

    I bought an Amazon Fire TV awhile back, but haven't used it since I got it. What put me off turning it on and trying it out is that I read in a few places online, that you wouldn't be able to install XBMC on it if you let it update / download the latest firmware / software.

    Just wondering if this is still the case?

    I'm kinda anxious to get it set up tonight, to be able to use it tomorrow, will I still have to stop the update if it starts?

    Has anyone installed XBMC on one of these recently?

    If so, I'd love to hear how you got on, what method you used to put XBMC on it.. any tips at all!

    I read somewhere last night (because of the sale on the Fire TV) that in the appstore there's a version of XBMC/Kodi caled SPMC. So it has to be compatible surely!

    SPMC is a long available XBMC fork,works quite well.

    Sorry to hijack the thread. Has anyone got an Amazon Fire TV working with prime instant video in Ireland?

    Used to work perfectly for me using a DNS service but has suddenly stopped and I've tried every troubleshooting step I can think of but no luck.

    Has anyone else had a similar issue?
