Hi I am looking to buy a rubber tyre digger in or around the €10000-€12000 price range for general farm work mostly loader work but some back actor work. Looking around what seems to be coming up for the money is clean 1990 model 3cx's or black cab 50hx's or the odd rough mf 860. What would people recommend about any of these machines or what should I look out for. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hi, you'll likely get a better response in Farming & Forestry http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=845

Perhaps a MOD could move this?

Personally I like the 3cx. Everything is easy to get at if needs be. Great range of spare parts companies about, but having said that, unless you buy a dog you shouldn't need much.Silencer box every few years and throttle cable every five or six years. Keep wheel nuts sown up tight, grease everything as recommended, don't forget the grease nipped on the Driveshaft to the hyd. Pump. Get 4wd and extra-dig.

had a 50hx now have a 3cx, 50hx was very very slow on the road, we have an outfarm a mile away and we bought a tractor with a tanco loader on it to go over there to give out bales it was that bad, 3cx is grand, have it about 10 years now and no complaints

50 hxs is better for pit and field work, one with 5th gear can fairly move on the road.

both the mf 50hx and 860 will be a better machine for loader work. have a great push and pull. id say 3cx has the better back actor though. not much in it but I would be going the massey with radial tyres.

Find it easier to get parts for a 3 cx then the mf.

Have a 50 hx and we love it. It is lighter and smaller then a equivalent aged 3cx so much better around the sheds and yard.

If it is just loader work and the odd back actor work then go for the massey, also look to get one with a ram for swinging over the back actor rather then the hydraulic motor. And a quick attach is well worth getting too.

WWe have a 1990 3cx roughly 15000 hours on it... great machine had tto do the engine 4 years ago... keep it greased and look after it... reliable machine but parts aren't cheap.. paid €90 for a button clutch... they don't like starting on cold morning's or hills is the only thing
