Laptop died?Novice

    Hi all,
    I had an old Acer laptop I was going to use for messing around so last night I started it and did some scans and got rid of a lot of photos and music and crap and it was working great and I was surfing the net for a few hours....so Tonight I turned on the Laptop and instead of just starting the was a line of script across the top of the screen and the first part seemed like it was counting upwards and slightly over on the screen was 20911 and when the first number that was counting upward got to 20911 matching second number the Laptop completely died, and I mean ther in not even a charging light on it....can anyone tell me any reason this may have happened? Thanks in advance for any replies....:confused:

    sounds like a memory dump. Had it white writing with a blue background? Take out the battery and hold down the power for 10 seconds, plug back in your charger and battery and try starting again. What model acer is it?

    Thanks for the reply....it was white writing on black background but I got it working (lol) a bit later but when I turned it off the orange light stays on like its charging even with the charger unplugged and then it turned on by itself...I know the battery is shot but it has always worked with the charger...later on it started all on its own (haunted I think..lol) so I just let it go dead as the battery was on 3%..
    Thanks for the help mate but Im gonna leave it until after Christmas as Im not too worried about it as I was only going to use it for messing with....
