I was looking at the e cab starter kit. 50e delivered.

It looks good, which is a material consideration

    Its not too big

    For light use

Good value for a good brand?

Not great but each to their own. I used something similar when I started and I was over it after about a week, wanted something stronger, more flavoursome and with better battery life.

personally, I recommend you get the eLeaf iStick battery, it's currently €35 here: http://www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/istick.htm

For the atomiser, I recommend the Aspire nautilus mini for €22 here: http://www.e-shop.ie/aspire-nautilus-mini-now-in-ireland/p927969c40615

only €7 over your €50 budget but 100 times better products and you won't regret buying them.

personally ordered from both websites and they're quick and good quality genuine products

    Thanks!

It would be my first device, so I am a bit new to what I need. If I were to get those two items would I have all I need. Minus the juice of course.

Also what is the life expectancy of those two, and what consumables will I need.

I liked the idea of a starter kit but a little advice and I would be fine. I guess I know enough to put those two together.

50 wasn't really the budget, just looked like a good deal. I would probably go to 80e if there is a less clunky looking option??

it's admittedly quite clunky but fantastic. The Aspire Nautilus Mini gives great vapour and excellent flavour.

The replacement atomiser heads (BVC) are about €15 for a blister pack of 5 heads for the nautilus so pretty cost efficient when each one can last a month or so depending on how heavy a vaper you are.

whatever battery or Mod (Big battery) you choose, I absolutely recommend the Nautilus Mini, even pro vapers and people that build their own coils still use the mini.

The iStick is quite clunky but the battery life is amazing, I get almost 3 full days from a single charge and the wattage/voltage can be adjusted up to 20 watts.

If you're looking for a sleeker less boxy looking battery, I've heard good things about the Vamo V5 here: http://www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/vamo.htm

You need to buy a separate battery and charger for the Vamo as it's basically just a case with screen and connections.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable could give you some more advice over the next few days as there won't be any postage so you have a few days to think about it but I still recommend the iStick, it's deceptively small, looks much larger in the photos. I can wrap hand around it completely and hide it and I've average sized hands.

Use the extra money to buy a heap of really nice juices :)

That's the set up most vapers would recommend as a starting point there is no need to search any more.

The iStick has its issues but for 30-40 quid these issues are minor, have a read of this thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057328155

The mini Nautilus on the other hand is a fantastic piece of kit that 99% of people that use it love it, I've 2 that are in constant use. Flavour and vapour production from this is the best from a tank bar none I think.

This is a great starter kit:
    http://www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/aspireistick.htm

Use "boards" coupon code for 10% off and you could add some extra juice to avail of the free postage on orders over 65euro.

This also looks like a great deal (smaller but less powerful battery):

In Fairness The vamo might be huge and a bit outdated at This stage, but with good batteries it is a cracking device for clearos.

Also a weapon on Saturday nights out.

iStick from all reports up to recently , yes ... recent reports seem to suggest problems with the threading from some quarters .

Vamo , with a good battery , definitely

I think I will go with the istick and nautilus mini starter kit.

I know the juice is personal preference, but is there any 'good' brands in particular, or some to avoid?

And one last thing, are there nicotine free juice options?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,580 ✭✭✭moleyv

Thanks for all the advice thus far!

Yeah it can be personal preference with the juice. What I normally do is pick up a bottle or what people recommend on here.

The two I've got going with at the moment are:

    VaperCaper - Banana Gingerbread

Gin's Addiction from Vapourpal, who have walk in shops here.

Both of them have 0 nic options. It might be a good idea to start strong and wean yourself gradually off the nic. Prefer the 18mg myself.

That's nice but some detail on that would be great. I have 3 Vamos and another one in the post and I couldn't be happier. V5 is my personal favourite.

Yes, tube mods are not as popular as box mods nowadays but don't be quick to dismiss a good old Vamo.

I just don't like how bloody massive the Vamo is, particularly in comparison to some more subtle options, like the iStick. The Vamo is like a fricking truncheon.

I agree, they are large compared to an iStick. Then again we are comparing apples with oranges - The vamo is the regular size for your run of the mill tube mod which can take 18650 battery while the included small battery in the iStick means that when it's fried, you can throw it in the bin. There's also a nice vamo mukey on fasttech which looks more or less like a box mod :)

It's good to keep in mind that the more expensive box mods which use 18650 batteries will be bulky as well.

Fair enough for the best of all stealthy sizes you can go with an eGrip - fancy little fuxxer with tank incorporated. Pity it's too expensive for my budget...

Ended up ordering the istick and nautilus mini.

I also ordered the aspire nautilus mini premium starter kit. I was just going to order another nautilus mini so I can switch between juices easier. The kit seemed good value for adding on around another 20e.

Expecting them sometime next week and ordered a selection of juices too.

Anyone recommend a good mod for taking on a night out with my nautilus. Has to be short and not too boxy. Might keep my eye on istick mini...

I have the Kato Box Mod for 18650, fits pretty nice into the hand, reasonably discreet.

That's a nice looking yoke I won't lie. Do you know any chipped box mods with 18650 batteries and about the same size? Mechanical mods would indeed be smaller as there is no chip+pcb, electric wiring for the firing/mod buttons, other wiring that I'm a noob about :D

Has anyone that has given up smoking with vaping also subsequently given.up vaping. From my experience through playing sport, vaping is just as bad for the lungs as smoking. Ive gone cold turkey, think its the only way.

I haven't heard of giving up vaping after giving up smoking. People enjoy their nicotine addiction so choosing the less harmful way to administer it would be what they are grateful for.
Also thanks for the information, it would be really nice to hear more about this. First I'm not sure what you mean when you say from your experience through playing sport. Have you been playing sport when addicted to cigarettes then moved onto vaping and you haven't noticed any improvements? If so, can you tell us for how long you smoked and then how long you vaped? On what device and what juice have you used, if I may ask?

Also it isn't gospel but the word out there is that your lungs barely Start to regenerate after 9 months from your last cigarette.

Not really sure tbh man. I have my Kato and my iStick with a Kayfun lite + on each - happy with that really!

I play football competitively (Sunday league). 90 minutes on a Sunday. I also play for an hour during the week. I smoke on average 12g of tobacco every two days. If I was smoking cigarettes then probably 18/20.

I have smoked since I was 18, gave them up for 4 months twice through using the vapor.

So because I have smoked for so long I have managed to get away with smoking while playing football. My fitness is not the best but I can get by. If I stop smoking and use a vapor my fitness decreases, I feel sick and its nauseating when I play. This does not go away either as I get used to it.

I used the P1 e-cigarette I think. FWIW I feel more in control of not smoking by going cold turkey than i ever did using a vapor, patches, etc.

It's worth considering withdrawal symptoms, people who had rollies oddly enough experience the same thing after moving to vaping. From what I read, some seem to have issues if the ecig's nicotine intake isn't enough or in some cases when it's too much. Liquid/tank quality is also something to look for, I think.
I had a hard time making the transfer myself but after more than 1 year of qutting I feel like my lungs are cleaner; it feels like I can breathe easier. Now I may be talking through my arse considering that I also started cycling to work around the time I quit. Actually it was one of the reasons why I put down the smokes.

I agree 100%. Some won't have that willpower though it does feel like having things under control when quitting cold turkey.

To be honest most of those starter kits are rubbish better off with a box mod. Here's a great box mod just get an atty and you're away.

Really ? $130 for someone starting off seems like over-kill , plus that particular one doesn't exactly scream "starter" or "user friendly" to me . Also I'd hardly call the iStick paired with a nautilus , rubbish , judging by any and all reviews .

Well when i started off i bought all that crap and was sorry i wasted my time and money if you want a good vape you really need a box mod or mec mod. I guess it's just my opinion.

    VaporShark RDna ?

    http://www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/sharkdna.htm

Have one myself and have had zero issues. Battery life is two days and I'd be a heavy vaper!

Edit: I see they are selling the RDNA40 now. I have the 30.

I think you have other problems if that's the case for you, or maybe you haven't been vaping for very long.
I have been vaping for a bit over a year now and gone from 24mg to 6mg and also vaping less than I did in the beginning and I can guarantee you that my lungs are a hell of a lot better now, no out of breath if I have to run for the bus etc... where before I could sometimes get short of breath by just walking to fast, it took a while to get better though probably around 3 months before I started to really feel a significant difference but now after a year it is night & day difference
